Play is a child’s first and most natural language. Through play, children learn to express emotions, practice social skills, solve problems, and make sense of their experiences in ways that feel safe and developmentally appropriate. Therapy sessions use play, creativity, and relationship-based activities to meet children where they are, creating a nurturing environment where they feel understood, supported, and free to grow. Rather than focusing only on behavior, we look at what a child’s behavior is communicating and respond with curiosity, structure, and care.
Our work is grounded in an attachment-based framework, which focuses on helping children regulate their emotions, strengthen connection with caregivers, and build the capacity to reflect and problem solve. Services include both individual sessions with your child and dedicated parent or caregiver sessions without the child present. Individual sessions allow children space to build skills and express themselves, while caregiver sessions focus on coordination, coaching, and practical tools to support regulation and connection at home. We believe lasting change happens when caregivers feel confident and supported, not left out of the process. Treatment may integrate evidence-based approaches such as play therapy, EMDR, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), all tailored to your family’s unique needs. Therapy is a partnership, and we work together to help your child feel safer, more connected, and more confident both inside and outside the therapy room.
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems.
The decision to whether PCIT is the most appropriate treatment for you and your child is between you and your mental health professional.
PCIT is conducted through "coaching" sessions during which you and your child are in a playroom while the therapist is in an observation room watching you interact with your child through a one-way mirror and/or live video feed. You wear a "bug-in-the-ear" device through which the therapist provides in-the-moment coaching on skills you are learning to manage your child's behavior. PCIT is done across two treatment phases.
Desired outcomes of the first phase of treatment in PCIT include:
Increased feelings of security, safety, and attachment to the primary caregiver
Increase in healthy attention-seeking behavior.
Increased attention span
Increased self-esteem
Increased pro-social behaviors (such as sharing and taking turns)
Desired outcomes of the second phase of treatment in PCIT include:
Increased compliance with adult requests
Increased respect for house rules
Improved behavior in public
Increased parental calmness and confidence during discipline
Increase in healthy co/self-regulation behavior
PCIT can be provided to children 2-6 with modifications for children ages 7-11
Individual therapy is never truly individual. Your therapist will be there for you every step of the way on your therapeutic journey. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by life stressors, school or parenting, or experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, your therapist will provide you with a peaceful opportunity to process and grow. Your needs are unique, so a treatment plan tailored specifically to you will be developed, placing you at the center of your care.
In many cases, the incongruence stems from childhood relationships. Others might observe an imbalance exists between their environment and their emotions. I consistently integrate an attachment-based perspective into my work, as our regulatory issues often originate from observed behavior and insecure attachments." Balancing skill development with evidence-based practices (ACT, CBT, DBT, SFT) while simultaneously addressing underlying attachment incongruence not only provides immediate support but also expands understanding of the core issue.

The first step in the therapy process is an intake session. During this initial meeting, we will talk through your concerns, your child’s history, and any relevant background information. Together, we will identify goals, discuss recommendations, and review important information such as informed consent, confidentiality, payment, and documentation. This session helps us create a clear plan and ensures you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
Ongoing sessions are approximately 50 minutes in length and may take place in person or through secure telehealth. Therapy does not follow a fixed timeline, as every child and family grows at their own pace. We will regularly check in about progress and adjust the plan based on your needs. Services may include individual sessions with your child, caregiver or client-absent sessions for coordination and coaching, and family-based work such as Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Our goal is to provide flexible, collaborative care that supports the whole family both inside and outside the therapy room.
